Clerk of Superior Court

The Clerk of Superior Court is an elected county constitutional officer.  There are many varied responsibilities and intricate duties conferred upon the clerk of superior court by law, the uniform rules of court, local court rules, and standing orders of the courts, as well as appellate court decisions. As custodian of the records of my office and I am responsible for everything in the office,
including all clerical, accounting, and administrative duties required by the courts that I serve. I strive to assure that the office of the clerk of superior court has everything needed to be technologically advanced.

I am legally responsible for every clerical act performed by me and my staff. One of my primary and most important duties is to receipt, properly account for, and pay out all monies received in my office, including court fees, criminal fines and mandated surcharges and assessments, and sums paid into the registry of the court to be kept securely for the future benefit of parties in litigation.

It is my responsibility to manage the county's jury pool and make certain the jury lists are properly preserved to ensure the jury's integrity. When jurors are needed for the trial of any case, the clerk of superior court summons the jurors from a randomly computer generated list and ensures that the required number of eligible citizens of the county are present for jury selection. I am responsible for payment to these jurors for their services rendered to the court.

Listed below are some of the numerous duties of the clerk of superior court, broken down into three categories: Administrative, Judicial, and Real and Personal Property.
